Answering YOUR top questions about pediatric dermatology!

Here at Seitz Dermatology, we welcome patients of all ages—some as young as just a few weeks old!

Every age comes with its own unique skin concerns, from babies with cradle cap, to teens battling acne… and let’s not forget eczema, which can start in infancy and last all the way to adulthood.

Curious about how we can create custom solutions for your child’s acne, cradle crap, eczema, hives, rashes, or warts? We’re answering your top questions about pediatric dermatology below!

Q: What’s the benefit of seeing a dermatologist instead of treating the problem with over-the-counter products at home?

Often, it can actually SAVE you money in the long run to see a dermatologist, instead of spending money to try a variety of different products from the store that may or may not do the trick!

As a board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Seitz has seen thousands of patients with skin concerns just like yours—and he knows successful treatment isn’t a “one size fits all” solution. Taking into consideration your child’s age, unique skin type, skin sensitivity, and the severity of their skin condition, Dr. Seitz can create a custom treatment plan that works.

Q: What can I expect when I bring my child or teenager in for their appointment?

First, Dr. Seitz will take a close look at your child’s skin, allowing plenty of time for you to share and discuss your concerns. He’ll also ask you some questions about the skin condition in question, such as:

  • How long has your child had it?
  • Are you using any kind of treatment on it now?
  • Does the skin condition tend to “flare up” at times? If so, when?

From there, Dr. Seitz will create a customized treatment plan, including prescribing specific products and making plans for follow-up visits.

Q: Is it going to be expensive for my child to see Dr. Seitz?

Many people hesitate to see a dermatologist because they’re worried about the cost. We’re happy to help bust that myth! On average, an office visit costs our patients $150 or less. (Of course, if your visit includes an in-office treatment or procedure, the cost is higher.) If you’re not sure of the amount your insurance will cover, we recommend giving your provider a call before making an appointment to see us.

If you have more questions about treating acne, cradle crap, eczema, hives, rashes, or warts at Seitz Dermatology, don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. We look forward to meeting you and your family at your appointment!
