FAQ about PRP hair restoration with Dr. Seitz

We’re excited to offer PRP (or Platelet Rich Plasma) hair restoration at Seitz Dermatology!

To tell us more about the process, who it can benefit, and what results you can expect, we went straight to the expert: Dr. Seitz!

Here’s what he had to say.

What is PRP hair restoration?

PRP (or Platelet Rich Plasma) hair restoration is an effective treatment we offer for men and women experiencing thinning hair or hair loss.

Who can benefit from PRP hair restoration?

Anyone with thinning (not bald) hair can benefit!

Do you need a consultation before starting PRP?
If so, what does it entail?

Yes, you’ll need a consultation before getting started. During your consultation, we’ll sit down together to discuss the treatment, cost, and expectations, as well as answer any questions you might have.

What happens during a PRP treatment?

During the treatment, we’ll painlessly draw a small amount of your blood, place it into a machine that separates it into parts, then inject one part of your blood (the plasma) into the area with hair loss.

How long does a PRP treatment take?

Start to finish, the whole process takes about 30 minutes:

20 minutes to draw and spin the blood, and 10 minutes for the PRP treatment itself.

On average, when do patients start seeing results?

We recommend three treatments at 4-6 week intervals, followed by a fourth treatment three months after your third treatment.

You’ll see some results after each treatment, but you’ll notice the biggest result after the 4th treatment.
